The Global Village

This is a story about what a Global Village would look like if you could turn the entire earth's population into one village of 100 people with the same proportions as all the people on earth:

• 6 people would have 59% of the wealth and they would all come from the USA
• 80 would live in poverty
• 70 would be illiterate
• 50 would be suffering from hunger and malnutrition and health issues
• 1 would be dying
• 1 would just be born
• 1 would own a computer

Looking at this in another way:

If you woke up in the morning in good health you are luckier than 1 million who will not live until the end of the week.

If you don't live in a war zone or are close to death from starvation you are better off than 500 million people.

If you have a full fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over you head and health care you are wealthier than 75% of the world's population.

If you have money in the bank and coins in your pocket you are one of the 8 privileged few in the Global Village.

So:

• Work like you don't need the money
• Love like nobody ever hurt you
• Dance like nobody is watching
• Sing like nobody is listening
• Live as if this were paradise on earth

Side Note: I recieved this from a man whom I worked with for 25 years and greatly respected and admired. He has endured a courageous battle with colon cancer and is one of the 10% who survive this terrible disease. He is an inspiration to everyone who knows him and he really does live his life to the fullest. Now it is our turn to do the same! Randy Skladan
