Water
Each area of the North Okanagan has its own water system, and questions on the system should be directed to the water departments of the various municipalities in the region. ( See Greater Vernon Water )Some areas charge a flat rate for water and sewer on a monthly basis based on the type of business involved. Other areas charge a minimal flat rate and base the balance on the consumption rate of the user.
A number of areas have installed water meters on commercial/residential dwellings in an effort to reduce water consumption, both for environmental reasons, and to prolong the life of the current infrastructure. The utility billing system for both water and sewer is based on water flow through the meter. As the billings are based on consumption, these numbers will vary from one establishment to another.
